Home work #6 (9/14/10)

Hello!!

Due to some technical difficulties I was unable to post this posting early, I do apologize to all my students and will require that this homework be done by tomorrow night. Have a great night on your free of homework night. The question for your homework is as follows: (PLEASE POST YOUR Answer ON YOUR BLOG)

We have studied Thomas Hobbes and John Locke's philosophical ideas; in 1 paragraph write down which philosophical idea, gives the best reasons why humans agree to a social contract. In other words why would people in Hobbes world agree to a social contract and why people in Locke's world agree to a social contract. You can take the side of Hobbes or Locke or both or none and explain your answer and include your opinion. Remember Hobbes and Locke agreed that we needed government but differ on why we needed government

  3. Hobbes wouldn't support our form of democracy because it was founded on the principles that man is a innocent creation of god that with the rest of the people in union would achieve its destiny and make its own path and not silently be shepherded as much as imprisoned by a seemingly totalitarianist faux form of democracy.

  7. Thomas Hobbes wouldn't support our form of government because he believed that the government should exist to protect people from themselves. He believed that people were naturally evil, and that the only way to maintain order was to have a ruler with total power that could control and protect the citizens from themselves.

  10. Thomas Hobbes would not support our form of government due to his beliefs and opinions of people and his out look on how to protect citizens. His theory on people are that they are no good and evil. He also felt that the only way citizens would be protect from themselves is if someone with complete power is incharge of everyone.
